David Whitley

President & Founder of RBC Homes

David Whitley, the President, and Founder of RBC Homes, was born and raised in Virginia Beach, studied Mechanical Engineering at Old Dominion University, and subsequently began his building career during an internship with Hudgins & Associates (a large regional builder-developer). 16 years later after rising to the position of Vice President of Building Operations, he left and started his own company, Resource Building Corporation, aka RBC Homes in 1993.

With more than 45 years of residential and commercial building experience, David’s portfolio includes award winning high-end custom homes; multi-story and mid-rise condos, office buildings; church additions, interior commercial build-outs, and extensive residential renovations. In addition to creating a successful Building company, David has volunteered as an EMT-Paramedic with the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad for over 40 years, leading this large dynamic group multiple times as its Captain. Being a lifelong student, he has also earned his Private Pilot’s License (Instrument Rated), a Merchant Marine 50 Ton Master’s License and various Construction certifications during his career. He currently serves on the City of Virginia Beach Board of Zoning Appeals, the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation, and the Sandbridge Beach Business Association. He is married to Patricia “Pat” who works side by side with him at RBC.
